Marti Estes and the creation of this event:
Marti Estes, a Deacon serving at First Presbyterian Church who unexpectedly died while out running. She enjoyed running with friends and did so many times a week. Marti also enjoyed running and walking in races that benefited many different organizations. She ran the Marine Corps Marathon and she also walked in a 50 mile walk for Multiple Sclerosis.
More than anything, Marti was an active member of First Presbyterian. She served the church in many ways. Marti was a Deacon, she taught Sunday School, served in the nursery as well as many church committees. She attended a women's circle and helped prepare meals for people who were sick or had lost loved ones. Marti was willing to serve the Lord in any way that she was asked to and always did so lovingly.
This event was created in 2008 by the First Presbyterian Church Board of Deacons as a means to benefit the greater community outside of First Presbyterian Church.
